Puffin Patrols

The RSPB Guernsey Group very much regrets that, after approximately 24 years, it can no longer provide its Puffin Patrols. Trident Travel has issued the following statement:

“Trident is stopping its Puffin Patrols. The company's been running the service since 2001. Before that they were run by Herm Seaway Express. Since 2001, Trident have provided keen bird-watchers with the chance to get a glimpse of the seabirds every summer between May and July, offering roughly 20 trips out each season. But Trident's found it’s making very little profit from the service and it's facing more competition from the likes of Island RIB Voyages. We’ve also looked at the risks involved for our vessels when travelling near rocky areas. Even a small dink could see the skipper suspended for 6 months. So after reviewing the risks and finances Trident have decided not to carry on with the patrols.”
